Phase 1 | classroom training

In the classroom, students are introduced to the skilled trades and associated topics, including:

  • OSHA Training

  • Tools

  • Overview of the trades

  • Union and non-union workplaces

  • Basic tool usage

  • Basic math

  • Work Life (Biblical-based curriculum)

Upon completion of the classroom training - in three to six months — they’re “Training Ready” and move on to phase 2.

phase 2 | Skills training

In phase 2, students get their hands dirty accumulating the hard skills necessary to discern their interests in the following areas:

  • finish carpentry,

  • plumbing,

  • electric,

  • HVAC.

Once they’ve accumulated the necessary hours working with dedicated, experienced volunteers in each discipline - in three to six months — they’re “Field Ready” and move on to phase 3.

phase 3 | field training

In this real-world environment, students work on actual customer projects - from estimating projects through planning and execution - under the direction and guidance of qualified staff and volunteers with years of hands-on experience in various skilled trades.

Once they complete this pre-apprentice phase, they are “work-ready” and we’ll work with a list of eager employers to get each program participant connected with the right employer.
